Nod ups volume for label's West Coast presence

TVT Records has tapped industry vet Mark Benesch as senior veep.

The nod, which significantly boosts the label’s West Coast presence, gives the fledgling TVT a recognized marketing and promotion big-gun emphasizing on hip-hop music.

Benesch, a founding member of Interscope Records, will be charged with expanding the label’s promotional staff and orchestrating key campaigns in tandem with TVT marketing chief Paul Burgess.

“Marc brings a great wealth of marketing and promotion talent to TVT as well as an intrinsic passion for breaking new artists,” said TVT prexy Steve Gottlieb. “His efforts have resulted in some of the most prestigious artist development stories in this decade.”

Benesch will shutter his marketing and promotion consultancy, Classified Entertainment, which he bowed last year after a three-year stint as senior veep/g.m. of hip-hop stronghold Priority Records. The company became wholly owned by EMI last year.

While at Priority, Benesch shepherded discs from Master P and Ice Cube, among others.

His track record at Interscope boasted successful albums from Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg, No Doubt and the Wallflowers.
