Hill tops Country Music Award noms with six

Brooks & Dunn, Wariner, Brooks each nab four

Songstress Faith Hill led the pack of nominees for the 34th annual Academy of Country Music Awards with six, including top vocal event for her duet with hubby Tim McGraw on “Just to Hear You Say That You Love Me.”

Garth Brooks, Brooks & Dunn and Steve Wariner each nabbed four noms for the so-called Hat Awards with Brooks, McGraw, George Strait, Shania Twain and Brooks & Dunn all competing for the coveted entertainer of the year trophy, an award that typically goes to Brooks.

Hill scored noms for her Warner Bros. album “Faith” as well as song, single and video of the year for “This Kiss,” in addition to top female vocalist and vocal event.

Winners of the Dick Clark Prods. event will be announced during a three-hour CBS telecast May 5 that will emanate from the Universal Amphitheater.

Other multiple nominees selected by the 3,000-member academy included Jo Dee Messina, Dixie Chicks, the Wilkinsons, George Strait, Martina McBride, Sawyer Brown, Vince Gill and Mark Wills.
