Prexy, CEO titles taken by ex-ESPN exec
Diva Systems Corp., which offers a video-on-demand service to cable operators, has lured a high-level cable exec to join the company as president and CEO: David F. Zucker, executive VP of ESPN.
Paul M. Cook, who has served as chairman and CEO of Diva since founding the company in June 1995, will hand over the CEO responsibility to Zucker and continue in his role a board chairman.
Alan Bushell, who founded Diva with Cook and has served as president and chief operating officer, resigned these offices, but continues as a board member and will report to the new CEO, devoting his attention to fresh strategic initiatives, relationships with the financial community and management development.
In addition to holding the title of executive VP of ESPN, Zucker was managing director of ESPN Intl. During Zucker’s tenure, ESPN Intl. grew from five networks in 1994 to 21 in 1999, transmitting in 20 languages to more than 157 million viewers in 180 countries.
Diva commercially launched its digital video-on-demand entertainment network over cable television systems in the fall of 1997, and is now deployed in five U.S. cable systems.
Diva’s on-demand TV offers instant access to hundreds of the latest Hollywood movies, classic library titles and children’s programming.
