BERLIN — Helmer Wim Wenders’ “The Million Dollar Hotel” will take a page from “Toy Story 2,” “An Ideal Husband” and “Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace,” three pics which recently bowed digital versions in U.S. theaters.
“Million Dollar Hotel,” starring Mel Gibson, Jeremy Davies and U2 frontman Bono, is opening February’s Berlin Intl. Film Festival via a new digital projection system jointly developed by Sony and Das Werk. Pic, written by Bono and Nicholas Klein, also stars Amanda Plummer and Gloria Stuart.
While a cinema is being outfitted with the necessary hardware, it’s not yet clear whether the special screening will be open to the public or for invited guests only.
