Pic pitched as Clooney vehicle

Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures have acquired scribe Larry Golin’s pitch “Officer Involved” for George Clooney and Robert Lawrence’s Maysville Prods.

The project, being developed as a potential starring vehicle for Clooney, is a gritty thriller about a public relations spokesman for the New York Police department who becomes a reluctant hero during a dangerous hostage situation.

Larry Golin recently scripted “Crush” for producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney, and “Out on My Feet” for Robert De Niro and Screen Gems.

Ben Cosgrove of Maysville, Bernie Goldman of Village Roadshow and Lionel Wigram of Warners were instrumental in setting up the project.

Village Roadshow chairman Bruce Berman is expected to executive produce the pic.

Maysville has a first-look deal at WB, with titles such as the rock ‘n’ roll biopic “Metal God” in development.

Golin’s deal was negotiated by Endeavor and manager Cory Concoff of the Bauer Co.
