Prague fest loves ‘Life’

Oscar fave leads other Euro pix

PRAGUE — Italian Oscar fave “Life Is Beautiful” opened the 6 Days of European Film fest in Prague on March 11.

Organized in 1994, the fest is now a staple in the Czech capital and has begun spawning off-shoots.

In the past year, Bucharest and Beirut have launched their own fests based on the Prague model.

Each of the EU member states will be represented in the limited selection. Countries including Brazil and Tunisia also have films in the lineup, while U.S. movies are notable for their absence.
