Annette O’Toole has joined the cast of Fox 2000’s “Here on Earth.”

Leelee Sobieski stars in Michael Seitzman’s story of two young students who fall in love only to discover one of them has a terminal illness. O’Toole will play Sobieski’s mother. Mark Piznarski directs and David Friendly will produce. O’Toole is repped by Nikki Pfeffer and Toni Howard of ICM and manager Barbara Gale.

Lin Shaye (“Dumb and Dumber,” “Kingpin” and “There’s Something About Mary”) has signed to star opposite Jay Thomas in “Spanish Moss” for J Films.

Scribe Warren Skeels’ coming-of-age drama will be directed by Craig Zobel. Ryan Mummert will exec produce and Karen Castrischer will produce the pic, which is slated to go before cameras this August in Florida.

Shaye will next appear onscreen in New Line’s “Detroit Rock City” and the Farrelly brothers’s upcoming “Me, Myself and Irene.” Her deal was brokered by Mark Scroggs at Paul Kohner and Tom Demko of Hofflund/Polone.

Lesley Ann Warren has joined the cast of writer-director Alan Rudolph’s “Trixie” based on a story by Rudolph and John Binder. Robert Altman will produce the pic about a second-rate lounge singer lured into a political scam.

Warren has a slew of upcoming projects, including Sony Pictures Classics “Twin Falls Idaho,” Miramax’s “Teaching Mrs. Tingle” and Artisan’s “The Limey.” She is repped by Steve Dontanville of ICM and managed by Peg Donegan and Maryellen Mulcahy of Mindel-Donegan.
