Two-time Oscar-winning helmer Milos Forman will receive the Director’s Achievement Award at the 11th annual Nortel Networks Palm Springs Intl. Film Festival’s awards gala on Jan. 15.
The Palm Springs fest runs Jan. 13-24, with screenings of more than 180 films from more than 40 countries, as well as an array of cultural events, industry seminars and panels.
Craig Prater, the fest’s executive director, said: “Milos Forman is an international icon. He has an unrivaled talent for crafting remarkable films into contemporary classics. His acceptance of our Director’s Achievement Award is indeed our honor as well.”
Forman earned Oscars nominations for “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” “Amadeus” and “The People vs. Larry Flynt,” winning for the first two.
His other directing credits include “Ragtime,” “Taking Off,” “Black Peter,” “Loves of a Blonde” and “Fireman’s Ball.”
Forman’s latest pic, “Man on the Moon,” starring Jim Carrey as comedian Andy Kaufman, will be released nationwide by Universal Pictures on Dec. 22.
