Ganis to head Governors Ball, Bergman penning lyrics

Sid Ganis, Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences VP, will return as Governors Ball chairman for the 72nd Academy Awards.

Lyricist Alan Bergman will team with Ganis to create an atmosphere fitting for the 2000 Ball — the latest edition of the annual post-kudos dinner for winners, nominees, presenters and telecast participants.

Ganis most recently produced the Adam Sandler-starrer “Big Daddy.” Currently, he represents the public-relations branch on the Academy’s board of governors.

The Academy Awards will be broadcast from the Shrine Auditorium March 26 on ABC.
