Master P's prod'n co. makes 5-pic pact

Trimark Pictures has signed a five-picture deal with No Limit Films, production company owned and run by Master P, the recording artist, producer and rap label chieftain.

Trimark says it has yet to determine whether these pics will be theatrically released or go straight to video.

Under terms of the deal, Trimark will finance the majority of at least five movies to be produced by No Limit CEO Master P and co-heads Jeff Clanagan and Stevie “Black” Lockett.

The soundtrack of each pic will include recordings from such No Limit artists as Master P, Snoop Dogg, Silkk the Shocker, Mystikal and Tru.

Master P said, “Trimark Pictures is the perfect fit to distribute No Limit’s pictures because of its excellent reputation in production, distribution and marketing. We’re going to show the world that this partnership will be one of lasting importance in the film community.”

Block added, “No Limit offers a wide variety of high-quality entertainment ventures, and the entrepreneurial spirit of Master P and the No Limit team assembled by Jeff Clanagan and Stevie ‘Black’ Lockett is what made this deal most attractive to us.”

Master P was named the 10th highest earning entertainer in 1998, grossing more than $55 million. No Limit Films’ recent productions include “Lock Down” and “No Tomorrow,” both starring Master P. Master P exec produced the 1998 homevid success “I Got the Hook Up,” starring himself and Anthony Johnson.

Trimark’s deal was negotiated by senior veep of homevideo Ron Schwartz and veep of acquisition Guy Stodel. No Limit was repped by Jeff Clanagan and attorney Darrell Miller of Miller, Rance.
