New Line puts stock in Tribeca’s ‘Daytrader’

Comedy fetes 16-year-old multi-millionaire

NEW YORK — New Line has purchased Tribeca Film’s comedy pitch “Daytrader.” Tribeca toppers Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and production prexy Brad Epstein will produce the project.

The concept for “Daytrader” is the brain child of Tribeca story editor Scott Newsteadter and development veep Hardy Justice: A suburban 16-year-old uses his parents’ computer to become a whiz-bang daytrader and a multi-millionaire.

The Gotham-based writing team of Jonathan Greenberg and Jonathan Lisco will write the script.

New Line’s New York-based creative exec Renee Witt brought the project to production prexy Michael Deluca. “Daytrader” is believed to be on the company’s fast track.

L.A.-based story analyst Jake Weiner will be overseeing the project with Witt. Justice and Newsteadter will develop the project for Tribeca, reporting to Epstein.

Greenberg and Lisco are managed by Howard Abrahamson and Larry Shuman.
