The New York Intl. Children’s Film Festival — one of the largest of its ilk on the East Coast — is seeking submissions for its third annual event, set to unspool Feb. 4-13.
Fledgling festival is the brainchild of husband and wife team Eric Beckman and Emily Shapiro, who’ve produced it from inception through their company Guerrilla Kids.
Among NYICFF’s board advisors are Spike Lee, Ethan Coen and Gus Van Sant. Fest is especially receptive to off-center material more daring and subtle than the usual kids’ fare.
At least 8,000 attendees are expected at the 2000 festival, which will be held at the DGA Theater and NYU’s Cantor Film Center.
