SYDNEY — Kelly McGillis (“Witness,” “The Accused”) has inked to star opposite Susie Porter in “The Monkey’s Mask,” an adaptation of Dorothy Porter’s erotic thriller novel in verse.
Pic, which shoots in Sydney in late September, is the sophomore feature of helmer Samantha Lang.
“The Monkey’s Mask” is about a lesbian private detective (Porter) who falls in love with a suspect (McGillis) in a missing persons case as she trawls through Sydney.
Producers are Robert Connolly (“The Boys”) and John Maynard (“An Angel At My Table,” “Sweetie”). Pic is funded by Australia’s Film Finance Corp. and Le Studio Canal Plus, the French major’s first equity investment in an Oz film.
