Legacy rocks into ‘Clubland’

L.A. rock scene pic skedded to open April 16

Indie distributor Legacy Releasing has acquired domestic rights to “Clubland,” about the Los Angeles rock scene, from producers Glen Ballard and Mimi Polk Gitlin (“Thelma and Louise”).

Terms were not disclosed, but the deal marks the company’s first use of its new credit line from real estate group The Wealden Group, (Daily Variety, July 17). Legacy plans to use additional funds to acquire more titles at the Sundance Film Festival.

Mary Lambert (“Pet Sematary”) helms from her own script about an up-and-coming band, which includes Jimmy Tuckett, Lori Petty, Brad Hunt, Heather Stephens, Rodney Eastman, Buddy Quaid, Terence Trent D’Arby and Alexis Arquette.

Veteran music producer David Foster and Guy Louthan (“The Last Seduction”) serve as executive producers. Pic is skedded to open April 16.

Mark Borde and his two partners, Gene Irwin and J. David Williams, founded distributor-for-hire Legacy in 1996.
