Sony Pictures Entertainment is not just working on “Finding Forester,” they’re aiming to locate Gus, too.
Producer Lawrence Mark and exec producer Sean Connery are expected to meet with helmer Gus Van Sant to discuss the pic, which centers on a friendship between a white, reclusive novelist and a young, black scholar-athlete. When the elder (Connery) discovers that the younger’s fictional writings are as deft as his basketball moves, he takes him on as his protege.
Talks with the helmer of “Good Will Hunting” and “To Die For” are expected to begin this Thursday.
Pic will be produced by Sony-based Lawrence Mark (“Jerry Maguire,” “As Good as It Gets” and the upcoming “Center Stage”). Connery will exec produce via his Sony-based Fountainbridge Films banner along with company prexy Rhonda Tollefson.
Connery is repped by CAA, Van Sant by Gaby Morgerman and John Burnham at the William Morris Agency.
