Talks that would have placed Bill Murray in the role of Bosley in Columbia Pictures’ “Charlie’s Angels” have fallen apart, insiders say.
Murray, flush with critical success from the Mouse House laffer “Rushmore,” had been highly sought after by “Angels'” topliner and co-producer Drew Barrymore.
But the thesp had been AWOL for the last few weeks, and all but impossible to reach. Now, insiders say, he has walked after asking for $1 million more than the producers could muster.
The casting impasse comes on the heels of the collapse of negotiations with Thandi Newton (“Beloved”), who was to have taken the role of the third angel.
Meanwhile, studio insiders caution that while “Ally McBeal” star Lucy Liu is in talks to play the third angel, no deal has been reached.
