Members to present noms for upcoming SAG awards

The Screen Actors Guild plans to mail ballots today to 4,200 members who will nominate performers in 13 categories for the union’s upcoming awards show.

The fifth annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, to be held March 7, will highlight what the voters determine were the most outstanding performances during 1998. Performances from 143 feature-length films and 241 primetime television and cable programs will be judged by the randomly selected committee.

Polls will close Jan. 25, and the nominations will be announced the following day at 8 a.m. in the James Cagney Board Room of the Screen Actors Guild, 5757 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles.

The awards presentation will be televised live by TNT from the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center starting at 5 p.m. Pacific time.
