'Footprints' takes best film, helmer at Malaga

Argentinean-born helmer Enrique Gabriel dominated the awards at the second Malaga Festival of Spanish Film, which wrapped Sunday night. Gabriel’s rural drama “Wiped-Out Footprints” took best film and best director, with best actress going to Spanish vet Asuncion Balaguer. Spaniard Sergi Lopez was named best actor for his role in Antonio Hernandez’s road movie “Lisbon.” Attracting increased media attention this year, the Malaga fest looks set to establish itself as Spain’s main platform for exclusively local product.
