New York-based production entity ErgoArts Inc., has begun principal photography on the first of four newly announced feature projects.
First pic out of the gate is the turn-of-the-century drama, “Songcatcher,” starring Tony Award-winner Janet McTeer (“A Doll’s House”) and Aidan Quinn (“Legends of the Fall”).
Writer-director Maggie Greenwald’s film is about a music scholar (McTeer) who heads into the Appalachians for retreat and study, only to fall in love with a hills native (Quinn).
Ellen Rigas Venetis and Richard Miller (“Heavy”) are producing. Lensing will take place in North Carolina.
Among ErgoArts’ three other projects is “Dear Juliet,” a romantic comedy about an American couple living in Italy whose marriage is threatened by a beautiful Italian neighbor. “Juliet” was developed by Peter Cattaneo (“The Full Monty”) and playwright and screenwriter James Bosley (“Fun”). Two other as-yet untitled projects are dramas.
ErgoArts Inc. is a division of Rigas Entertainment formed in 1995.
