Viewers can watch on TV, web

Illeana Douglas will return as host of the 2000 Independent Spirit Awards, honoring indie films in 12 categories.

Sponsored by Independent Feature Project-West, the 15th annual kudofest will be broadcast from Santa Monica March 25 on the Independent Film Channel and Bravo Channel.

IFC will also stream the event live through its Web site.

“As a presenter, Douglas was one of the highlights of last year’s ceremony,” said IFP-West exec director Dawn Hudson. “She has a long-standing career in independent film and will be a terrific host.”

Show will be produced by Diana Zahn-Storey, a production vet of five Spirit telecasts.

Most recently seen in “Stir of Echoes” and “Happy, Texas,” Douglas is developing two projects to produce and topline: “The Lost Army” and “Life Without Dick.”

Past Spirit Award hosts include Samuel L. Jackson, Kevin Pollak, John Turturro and Queen Latifah.
