Double duty for Berg with ‘Truck,’ ‘Hostage’

Writer, director to take on supporting roles

Peter Berg is on board to write and direct two projects: “Hostage Rescue” for Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment, and “Truck 44,” potentially for USA Films.

Berg, who will also play supporting roles in both films, is currently in production on a one-hour dramatic TV series, “Wonderland,” slated to preem midseason on ABC.

“Hostage” centers on an elite para-military unit who combat international terrorism. Imagine’s Brian Grazer will produce.

“Truck 44” — the script for which USA Films owns the rights but has not committed to make — is based on the lives of five New York City fire fighters who attempt to rob a building by setting it on fire.

“Truck 44” will be produced by Berg and Michael Schiffer while Interscope Communications’ Ted Field, Scott Kroopf and Erica Huggins will oversee production.

Berg’s acting credits include “The Last Seduction,” “Cop Land,” “Girl Six” and “The Great White Hype.” He also wrote and directed “Very Bad Things.”

Berg is repped by Julie and Rick Yorn at AMG and Endeavor.
