Disney has snatched up a pitch tentatively titled “Area 99” from scribe Neil Tolkin.
The pitch, said to be a buddy cop action movie that will make use of ground-breaking special effects, sold for mid- against high-six figures.
Tolkin is set to write the script based on the pitch. Kevin Foxe, who executive produced “The Blair Witch Project,” is close to signing his deal to produce.
Tolkin and Foxe presented the idea to Bruce Hendrichs, exec VP, motion pictures production, who encouraged them to take it to Disney co-prexy Todd Garner. Garner purchased the pitch for Disney and will serve as the exec on the project.
The Endeavor Agency and attorney Stuart Rosenthal of Bloom, Hergott, Cook, Diemer & Klein brokered Foxe and Tolkin’s deals.
