Brill dealing with devilish directing job

Helmer eyeing Sandler's son-of-Satan pic

NEW YORK — Steve Brill is negotiating to direct “Little Nicky,” the comedy that Adam Sandler will topline for New Line this fall.

In “Little Nicky,” Sandler plays the son of Satan. Pic may be Sandler’s most ambitious to date, with a higher budget and special effects reminiscent of “Men in Black.”

Brill is best known for writing “The Mighty Ducks.” He is penning the upcoming untitled Warner Bros. comedy that will star David Arquette as one of a pair of losers who infiltrate the WCW wrestling circuit when their fave grappler loses his title. As a director, Brill’s credits include “Heavyweights,” a comedy about portly half-pinters at camp.

Film’s being produced by Robert Simonds and Jack Giarraputo, and shepherded by NL’s Mike De Luca and Brian Witten. Brill’s repped by UTA.
