'Safari' to travel to Miramax from mag
NEW YORK — Miramax has wasted little time playing the Talk magazine synergy card: The Disney subsid has optioned Mark Ross’ “The Last Safari,” a feature article in Talk’s debut issue.
“Safari” is a gruesome first-person account of a few terrifying hours when 16 tourists in Uganda were kidnapped by Hutu rebels and marched to the Congo. On the journey, the captives were humiliated and tortured, and eight of them were killed.
“This is an incredible, moving and emotional story,” said Miramax topper Harvey Weinstein. “Mark Ross is a courageous man, and we are honored by the opportunity to tell his story.”
