New partners to produce slate of $50 mil. pics

Canadian studio production facilities provider Meier Worldwide Intermedia, on Monday, said it has partnered with producer Alexandra Rose (“Exit to Eden”) to form Meier Rose Pictures.

According to the company, Meier Rose Pictures will produce a slate of pics in the $50 million range in British Columbia, with Rose serving as producer of some projects while supervising all others.

One of the first pics in development is “The Magic Box,” about John Meier, a former aide to Howard Hughes, and his relationship with the recluse and experiences during Watergate.

Rose is currently completing post-production work on the Gary Marshall-helmed “The Other Sister” for Touchstone Pictures.

She previously produced “Frankie and Johnny,” “Quigley Down Under” and “Norma Rae.”

Meier Rose marks Meier Worldwide’s eighth subsidiary, in addition to its studio, security and Internet services.
