Search engine creates one stop MP3 shop

Multimedia search engine, in which Michael Ovitz holds a majority stake, has teamed with downloadable-music sites,, and to deliver the first comprehensive guide to online CD-quality music.’s estimated 1 million users will now have one-stop access to legally retrievable music on the ‘Net.

“Building partnerships in the downloadable music arena allows to strengthen its position within the broadband entertainment realm,” said VP of strategy Travis Kalanick.

Last week, Ovitz acquired a 51% stake in the L.A.-based (Daily Variety, June 11), which was created by five UCLA computer science students in 1997.
