Reel.com taps Alex Bond new CFO

Former senior veep hails from parent Hollywood Entertainment

HOLLYWOOD — In its second major appointment this month, online video retailer Reel.com has tapped Alex Bond as chief financial officer.

The e-tailer, owned by Hollywood Video parent Hollywood Entertainment Corp. also hired Tracy Jan as the new vice president of merchandising, (Daily Variety, April 8). She replaces Rosie Ruley Atkins, who became executive producer of the online merchant.

In his new position, Bond will oversee all financing, reporting and acquisitions functions for the Reel.com.

Already with parent

Most recently, Bond was senior veep of Internet development for Hollywood Entertainment, where he evaluated strategic alternatives and financing options for Reel.com’s growth.

He was also veep of strategic development, where he was responsible for the acquisition and integration of 13 video store chains representing approximately 120 stores.

Bond also worked in investment banking for Montgomery Securities in San Francisco, now NationsBank Montgomery, where he focused on raising equity and debt capital as well as advising on mergers and acquisitions for companies in the specialty retail sector, and was executive veep of strategic development for shoe retailer Just For Feet Inc.

“Alex’s experience in both banking and general management will be a great asset to Reel.com during the next phase of development,” said Reel CEO Jeff Jordan.
