HOLLYWOOD — Disney has tapped Spencer Neumann as chief financial officer of Buena Vista Internet Group.
In his new position, Neumann will oversee all business planning, finance, accounting and administration activities and will play a role in all new business development activities. He will report to Stephen H. Wadsworth, prexy of BVIG.
Neumann takes over financial duties from Wadsworth, who continued serving as chief financial officer as well as prexy when BVIG chairman Jake Winebaum left in June to form ‘Net venture eCos.

Anaheim Sports CEO
Prior to joining BVIG, Neumann was chief operating officer for Anaheim Sports Inc., where he was responsible for business operations, including strategic planning, advertising sales and sponsorships, ticket sales, broadcasting, marketing, communications and community relations.
While there, Neumann spearheaded the renovation and launch of Edison Intl. Field in Anaheim, Calif.
Prior to that, Neumann was senior analyst, corporate development and acquisitions for Disney’s strategic planning department, focusing on financial and long-term business planning.
Launched in 1997, BVIG oversees Web sites including Disney.com, ABC.com, ABCNews.com and ESPN.com. Each site is part of the Go Network.
Scores Soccernet stake
Separately, BVIG on Monday said it has purchased a 60% stake in Web site Soccernet from Daily Mail and General Trust.
The site (soccernet.com) attracts 20 million page views per month. BVIG will oversee all of the site’s production, design, editorial, sales and marketing operations and will serve as the cornerstone of ESPN.com’s international expansion efforts.
“This agreement heralds ESPN.com’s first foray into the international Internet arena,” said Kevin Mayer, executive veep, television network product, BVIG.
