Cinesite Visual Effects has tapped senior creative director Carlos Arguello to head an expanded creative art department, and has added creative director Lubo Kristov and senior art director John Mann to its roster.
“This infusion of talent significantly enhances our capabilities for conceptualizing and designing visual effects for live-action, 3-D animation and special venue films,” said Gil Gagnon, VP and head of production at Cinesite.
Since joining the company in 1994, Arguello has served as visual effects supervisor on “Armageddon,” “Sphere” and “Space Jam.” He also worked as a creative director for f/x shop Pacific Data Images.
Kristov is a recent transplant from Cinesite (Europe) in London. His feature credits include “Event Horizon,” “Lost in Space” and “Spawn.”
Mann will supervise Cinesite’s team of conceptual artists, matte painters and production designers. He previously headed the art department at now defunct Boss Films Studios, where he worked on “Species” and “Outbreak.” He was also a freelance artist on “Godzilla” and “Stargate.”
Cinesite is producing “Plant Doctor,” a five-minute, completely CG animated short, to promote and showcase the group’s artistic talent and character animation capabilities.
