Television and Internet broadcaster NewsNet Central said Tuesday it has received investments from Frank Biondi Jr., former head of Universal Studios, and Jules Haimovitz, prexy of MGM Networks.
Biondi is on the board of directors of the San Francisco-based Netcaster, where he joins Mark Goines, executive veep of Intuit and Jim Hornthal, chairman of Preview Travel.
Although financial terms were not disclosed, privately held NewsNet said the investment from WaterView Partners, the joint venture between Biondi and Richard Weiss, chairman of investment firm Georgica Advisors, was significant.

The company provides local broadcasters with television and Internet programming enabling them to direct viewers to their Web sites, allowing for advertising tie-ins on air and on the Web.
Its televised programming will be available on the Internet later this year, said NewsNet CEO Allan Horlick, who most recently served as prexy and managing director of NBC Europe and CNBC Europe.
The company will also create content to complement HealthCentral.com’s Web site to coincide with its broadcast reports.
