New partners to specialize in optical printing, CGI work
Long-time Buena Vista Imaging visual f/x supervisor Mark Dornfeld has formed Custom Film Effects to specialize in optical printing and CGI work.
In a unique partnership with digital f/x and graphic design shop Lumeni Prods., CFE will be independently housed within Lumeni’s Glendale, Calif.-based facility and will use the company’s digital CGI technology.
In return, Lumeni will use CFE’s optical f/x tools. CFE will also attract projects to the company.
In addition to optical printing, CFE will focus on providing post production feature film effects, motion picture main and end titles and trailers.
Dornfeld previously served as an optical f/x supervisor on “101 Dalmatians,” “The Usual Suspects” and “A Civil Action,” while serving as a digital f/x supervisor on the Oscar-nominated “Armageddon” and “Mighty Joe Young.”
Dornfeld recently completed CFE’s first project, the main titles on “Pushing Tin” for 20th Century Fox, under the creative direction of L.A.-based design firm Imaginary Forces, and is now working on New Line’s “Jello Shots.”
Lumeni recently redesigned Miramax’s feature film logo, which debuted with “Shakespeare in Love.”
