Chuck Davis has ankled his post as prexy of e-commerce for Disney’s Internet arm Go.com to become prexy and CEO of e-tailing rating site BizRate.com.
Effective immediately, Davis will replace BizRate.com co-founder Farhad Mohit, who will become chairman and chief strategic officer of the Los Angeles-based company.
Davis left Disney on Friday.
“After a terrific experience building Disney’s e-commerce businesses, I am enthused about working with Farhad and the BizRate.com team to expand its business model while maintaining our leadership position with both merchants and consumers,” Davis said.
Through BizRate.com, online buyers rate merchants after making purchases. Visitors can check survey results for retailers based on on-time delivery, ease of use, product selection, price/value. Some 2,700 online merchants participate in BizRate.com’s site, with about 150 coming on board each month.
At Disney, Davis ran six commerce product groups including Disney Catalog, ESPNstore.com, Disneyvacation.com, Go Auctions, Go Shopping, and the largest, Disney Direct, which includes the Disney Store Online. He also oversaw Family.com and, as a board member, Disney’s majority equity stake in Toysmart.com.
Davis also served as prexy, e-commerce, for Disney’s Buena Vista Internet Group, which merged with Infoseek last month to create Go.com. He began at Disney Online as senior veep of marketing, developing four revenue streams.
Before Disney, Davis was senior veep for circulation and consumer marketing at TV Guide, managing overall branding, consumer marketing and direct response subscription efforts. He worked at Time Warner’s Sports Illustrated from 1986-91 in various marketing, financial and general management capacities.
