Netcasting software provider LOADtv inked a deal Thursday with comic Andy Dick, allowing the former “News Radio” star to retain all creative control while developing original programming for the ‘Net.
Dick’s slated online material, which will only be accessible via LOADtv’s video player, will include a Dick-toplined short film festival, talkshow and band performance.
With complete ownership of his ‘Net projects, in addition to receiving a majority percentage of ad revenues generated from his content, Dick says he is thrilled by the new outlet for his material, located at both loadtv.com and andydick.com.
“I was thinking that the only place that I could get as trippy or as raunchy as I want was on stage, but with this LOADtv deal, I can do exactly that,” said Dick, who is also in development with Ben Stiller on a TV show for New Line Television. “(The Internet) is an unlimited venue for me to go down.”
LOADtv is streaming for free the videos “Andy Dick Gets Exotic Erotic,” “Andy Dick Officer Naughty,” “Dale Ghostly” and “Pollywog.” Netizens can also send holiday video greetings, one of which features Dick breaking into a Chaka Kahn song when he can’t pronounce the word “Hanukkah.”
The door is open for other celebs who want to develop original content for LOADtv — “The cost of digital production is so low that we’ll pick up the cost for any celebrity that wants to be creative with us,” said the company’s CEO Morgan Warstler.
Closing the deal were Dick’s reps Jason Buchtel, development VP at production company Pollywog and attorney Jared Lavine.
