Cannes sets site on Web

Cannesmarket.com spotlights films, attendees, co. info

The Cannes Film Market has stepped out onto the Internet, launching its first Web site that is free to eventgoers and includes a regularly updated database of participating films and attendees.

The database, available at http://www.cannesmarket.com and compiled by Los Angeles-based Film Finders, provides information on more than 1,600 film companies, 5,000 industry executives/filmmakers and listings of more than 2,000 films and projects attending Cannes.

Information provided also includes company profiles, recent acquisitions, film credits, budgets, synopses, production statuses and screening dates, as well as head office and Cannes contact information for executives and staff, including direct telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail addresses.

The Web site is planned to be updated year-round and expands on the CD-ROM that was distributed to market participants last year.

A schedule of all market screenings will be updated beginning April 28, as will listings of all the products offered at the market beginning May 12.
