Exec named VP/G.M., will o'see website
Bernard Gershon has logged on as veep and general manager at ABCNews.com.
In his new post, Gershon will oversee the site’s editorial content, design, production and marketing. He also will supervise newsroom staffers at the site’s New York, Seattle and Washington bureaus.
“Bernie’s experience and excellent news judgment make him an ideal leader for ABCNews.com … leading it into the new millennium,” said the network’s news prexy, David Westin.
Most recently, Gershon was VP at ABC News Radio, overseeing the net’s informational programming. Under his direction, the ABC team reeled in last year’s Radio & Television News Directors Assn.’s Edward R. Murrow honor for overall excellence.
Gershon also is credited with the 1995 launch of the Alphabet web’s first streaming media site, ABCRadioNet.com. He joined the network in 1993 as general manager of news operations.
Gershon also served as associate director of news and programming at WCBS radio news and as news director at Gotham’s WOR radio.
