As USA Networks continues to beef up its originals, the company has promoted Adam Shapiro to senior VP of longform programming, where he will oversee development and production of the genre for both USA Network and Sci-Fi Channel.
Shapiro joined the company in July 1998 and most recently served as VP of longform programming. During his tenure, Shapiro was responsible for overseeing a movie slate for USA that now includes “Hefner: Unauthorized”; “Cabin by the Lake,” produced by Neal Moritz; and a mini based on the life of Attila the Hun.
“Adam is developing an ambitious slate of movies for both USA and Sci-Fi,” said Stephen Chao, prexy of programming and marketing at USA Networks. “He will continue to lead the growth of original programming on both networks and will be an especially important player as we increase our original programming output on both services.”
