USA Networks has tapped Scott Silverstein as VP and general sales manager of a newly created advertising sales staff dedicated solely to the cabler’s Sci-Fi Channel.
As head of the new wing, which will be subsumed by USA Network’s main advertising sales department, Silverstein will oversee media planning and development of new revenue opportunities while working closely with USA Networks’ senior VP of national ad sales, Muriel E. Fariello.
Two current USA Networks execs — VP and national sales manager Tom Olson and VP of Eastern region sales John Doherty — will join Silverstein in the new department.
“This staff restructuring is a reflection of Sci-Fi’s recent and phenomenal programming strength and distribution growth — It is a channel that stands on its own now in terms of size and quality of its audience,” said USA Networks exec VP of advertising sales John Silvestri, to whom Silverstein will report.
Silverstein moves to the cabler from Seltel, a unit of radio broadcaster AMFM (formerly Chancellor Media).
