Exec to o'see technical services and special projects

Michael Daruty has been upped to senior VP of technical operations for Universal Studios Operations Group, the studio announced Thursday.

“Mike is a team player with proven management skills and great relationships within the studio and the industry,” said Jim Watters, prexy and general manager of the Operations Group.

In his new post, Daruty will oversee technical services and special projects, including the High Definition Telecine Center and the Digital Video Compression Center. He will also be responsible for the new global inventory, tracking and purchase order system and for consolidating the studio’s filmed and video assets worldwide.

Daruty joined Universal’s post-editorial department in 1986 and rose through the ranks to become VP of post-editorial in 1996. He has held similar posts at Disney, Cannon Films and several indies.
