William Humphrey has been named to the newly created post of exec VP of business development, technology and operations at Turner Broadcasting Systems.
Humphrey will seek out business opportunities for TBS’ domestic and international networks.
He will also oversee TBS’ entertainment division operations and report to the conglom’s prexy and chief operating officer Steven Heyer.
“The continuing growth worldwide of Turner Broadcasting networks coupled with emerging technological advances pointed up the need within our organization for an executive with Bill’s unique business experience,” Heyer said in a statment.
TBS’ is incorporating enhanced television, digital box-enabled interactivity and commerce into its roster of existing services.
Humphrey said he “is looking forward to working with the Turner Broadcasting Team to extend a strategy for effective technology applications.”
Most recently, Humphrey was exec VP of Digital Studios, a division within Sony Pictures Entertainment. During his 15-year stint with the company, Humphrey oversaw all of Sony’s tech businesses, including Advanced Entertainment Systems and Strategic Technologies.
Humphrey’s accomplishments at the studio include developing Sony’s DVD center and high-definition facility.
