Joseph Fiennes, who played the romantically and professionally frustrated Bard in the Oscar-winning “Shakespeare in Love,” has signed with CAA.
Previously repped by WMA, Fiennes will begin work shortly on producer Jean-Jacques Annaud’s “Enemy at the Gates” for Mandalay. Annaud (“Seven Years in Tibet”) also co-wrote the script with Alain Godard (“The Name of the Rose”) about the epic battle of Stalingrad. Lensing will begin in Berlin next month.
Meanwhile, the actor is also currently in talks to join Jon Avnet’s “Uprising” for Universal.
Fiennes’ other credits include Shekhar Kapur’s sweeping period drama “Elizabeth,” Bernardo Bertolucci’s “Stealing Beauty” and Paul Schrader’s “Forever Mine.”
The thesp will retain his London-based reps, Ken McReddie Ltd. and manager Gene Parseghian, who formed his own Gotham-based management/production company with fellow ex-WMA agent Johnnie Planco, last month.
