Tele-Munchen’s revs a record

Licensing deals bring top dollars

BERLIN — Tele-Munchen Group enjoyed record revenues of more than $220 million in 1998, the 22-year-old TV and film group has announced. Licensing deals accounted for about $166 million. Profits were tallied at $31 million, $10 million after taxes.

Tele-Munchen includes 15 subsidiaries and employs about 100. In addition to licensing and merchandising, the Munich-based Tele-Munchen holds stakes in TV broadcasters RTL2 and TM3 as well as cinema chains, while also distributing videos and producing TV series and bigscreen films.
