Columbia Pictures announced Tuesday that former New Line marketing veepee Tim Sommerfeld has joined the company as veepee of creative advertising in its worldwide marketing division.
“Tim has distinguished himself as a highly creative and innovative voice at New Line,” said Robert Levin, prexy of Sony Pictures Entertainment’s worldwide marketing, adding, “I’m delighted to welcome him to our team, where I’m confident he’ll be a valuable addition.”
Sommerfeld had been responsible for the development of trailers and TV/radio spots for New Line pics such as “Rush Hour,” “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me,” “Blade” and “Pleasantville.”
Prior to joining New Line, he served as an on-air promotions director at CBS Television and held marketing positions at Buena Vista Pictures and Fox. At Buena Vista, Sommerfeld served as director of creative film services, while at Fox he worked as an on-air promotions manager.
