WASHINGTON — Two of the U.S. Senate’s most vocal culture warriors, Sens. Joseph Lieberman (D-Conn.) and Sam Brownback (R-Kan.), will land in Los Angeles this week to hype their concerns about violence and sex in popular culture.
Brownback and Lieberman will hold a press conference Wednesday calling attention to their “appeal to Hollywood” campaign aimed at curbing material that the legislators view as demoralizing to the nation. The text of their message will appear in the Los Angeles Times that day in a full-page advertisement.
Among those who have endorsed the effort are Steve Allen, Naomi Judd, Carol Lawrence and Joan Van Ark.
