LONDON — Scottish Media Group has reportedly bid £225 million ($365 million) for Ginger Media Group, the radio and TV empire of Brit DJ Chris Evans.
Evans holds 55% of Ginger, which owns the Virgin Radio station in London and produces the Channel 4 show “TFI Friday.” Richard Branson’s Virgin Group owns 20%.
According to a report in the London Times, SMG, which is the ITV broadcaster in Scotland, is one of three leading bidders. Its rivals are French radio group NRJ and the U.S. media company Clear Channel.
Clear Channel’s bid reportedly values Ginger at $284 million, but the U.S. firm is offering to let Evans keep majority control of the business.
