Promark taps new exex

Stern prod'n VP for family pix, Ballew is creative veep

Promark Entertainment Group, expanding its ranks to increase production of original films, has appointed two key execs.

Tina Stern has been named production VP for family films, overseeing family and children’s movies. Denise Ballew is the new VP of creative affairs and acquisitions.

In her new position, Ballew is responsible for bringing in material in the action-thriller genre, and acquiring completed films.

Stern has previously produced four films for Promark, including “One Last Flight,” “Finding Kelly” and “Angels in the Attic.” She has also worked for Greystone Films and Gaylord Entertainment on “Lunker Lake” and Columbia Pics and Beacon Films’ “The Baby-Sitters’ Club.”

Ballew most recently served as producer on the indie “Perfect Prey” starring Kelly McGillis and Bruce Dern. Prior to that, she was veepee of development and production at Prism Pictures, where she worked on “When the Bough Breaks” (Ally Walker and Martin Sheen), “Decoy” (Peter Weller and Robert Patrick) and “Power of Attorney” (Danny Aiello and Elias Koteas). Ballew started as a talent manager, doing stints at MCEG, Elsboy Entertainment, the Beth Cannon Co. and William Morris.

Owned by Swedish conglom Promark Konsult, L.A.-based Promark Entertainment Group is a 10-year-old indie producer and worldwide distributor of films. Promark Television was launched in March of last year.
