News Corp. ups James Murdoch

Richmond succeeds, becomes News Digital Media prexy

NEW YORK — James Murdoch has been named executive VP of News Corp., the company announced Wednesday.

Jon Richmond, president of Fox Interactive, Fox Filmed Entertainment’s vidgame unit, will succeed Murdoch as president of News Digital Media and report to him.

Murdoch, 26, has served as president of News America Digital Publishing since is inception nearly two years ago. Its name has changed to News Digital Media.

James’ older brother, Lachlan Murdoch, 28, is a senior executive VP of News Corp. and heads up both News Ltd., News Corp.’s Australian operation, as well as its U.S. publishing division. James will report to New Corp. vice-chairman Peter Chernin.
