The Lion preps for self-distrib'n

Scott Davidow and Alan Pollan have been upped to veepees of their regional sales divisions at MGM Home Entertainment.

Supervising the Eastern and Western sell-through departments respectively, Davidow and Pollan will develop and implement strategies to increase sales of MGM titles within the homevid industry.

In addition, Davidow and Pollan will expand the studio’s sales forces to accommodate new business when MGM transforms into a self-distributor at the beginning of next year. Its distrib pact with Warner Bros. Home Video expires Jan. 31.

“(Davidow and Pollan’s) talents and expertise will be of particular value going forward, as MGM re-establishes its domestic distribution operation and pursues opportunities to ensure maximum exposure for its library of films,” said MGM’s senior veep of sales Robert Wittenberg.

Davidow first teamed with MGM in 1995 as an Eastern sales director, rising in 1997 to his most recent position of East Coast sales exec director. Prior to MGM, Davidow spent five years in sales at Buena Vista Home Video.

Pollan most recently worked as exec director of sales of MGM’s Midwestern region, a post he’s held since 1995. Previously, Pollan was a regional sales manager at Paramount Home Video.
