Miramax exec ankles to do nonfiction novel

Miramax exec VP of production and development Jack Lechner is ankling the Disney subsid to write a nonfiction book full time.

In the three years that Lechner worked for the Disney subsid, he supervised such films as “Good Will Hunting,” “Little Voice,” “The Mighty,” “Velvet Goldmine” and the upcoming releases “Cider House Rules” and “Mansfield Park.”

Before joining Miramax he had been a senior VP at HBO and a senior exec at FilmFour, the feature film division of the U.K.’s Channel 4.

“Jack is not only our colleague, but a friend,” said Meryl Poster, Miramax co-prexy of production. “Bob, Harvey and I wish him the best in everything he does.”
