VANCOUVER — Canuck film and TV producer Robert Lantos strutted away with $8 million in severance, bonus and stock options when he left Alliance Atlantis Communications, the company told Daily Variety.
The windfall came after Lantos left the newly merged Alliance and Atlantis firms in September. Salary and severance amounted to about $4 million, stock options an additional $3 million, and a bonus of almost $1 million.
Alliance Atlantis is a major Canuck film and TV producer and also has interests in six cable companies.
Lantos, co-founder and former chairman of Alliance Communications, ankled with a three-year movie production deal.
Co-founder Victor Loewy, now chairman of the merged company’s motion picture group, was paid about $650,000 as a signing bonus as part of his three-year contract.
The former chairman of Atlantis, Michael MacMillan, now chief executive of the merged company, has a base salary of $300,000 for fiscal 1999, according to a management circular.
