Low corporate donations blamed for pubcaster pink slips

Pubcaster KCET Los Angeles is cutting 16 staff positions in response to a budget shortfall blamed on lower than projected corporate donations to the PBS affil.

KCET said the budget ax will fall on 12 current staffers, some in the area of marketing and program development, while four open jobs will be eliminated. KCET prexy Al Jerome said the cuts were made last week to ensure that the station won’t face red ink at the close of its fiscal year on June 30.
